My Love
I understand why people get arranged marriages now, although even if I could do it over again, I wouldn't. What I mean is, if you're paired together, you have to grow into one another over time. When you choose your partner, you take two whole people (none of this missing piece nonsense), and you have to figure out how they work. Two worlds collide. There's love, there's practicality, there's the dog vomiting at 3 AM. Not so easy to love each other when you're cleaning that up and you'd rather be sleeping. Do you still love me even though I'm terrible at cooking? Luckily, you're great at it, but I still worry. Sometimes you piss me off so goddamn much, and then a minute later you'll say the funniest thing I've ever heard, funnier than any of my comedian friends. You drive me crazy, and I still love coming home to you every day.

About the Artist
Charlie Visconage is a self-taught artist living and working in Washington, DC. He makes funny, bright, and fun portraits of people and animals. In Charlie's world, all faces have frown lines, everyone has somethin' to hide, guns are golden, animals have attitude problems, and his subjects have probably had a few psychadelic experiences they wouldn't tell mom about. You can find his work at www.visconage.com or on Instagram @cavisconage.
