…Or : A HARD RIDE to STARBUCKS STRASSE
Long rides, when done right, have a hypnotic meditation quality to them. This was one of those days. Like a long run with no music (never music unless it was a shitty hotel treadmill), it allowed my mind to be both on the road and a million miles away. Did my conventionally attractive visual artist friend really think the creepy photographer we both knew was “just nice”? More broadly, could men and women really ever reconcile their different points of view in this world, really? Gender politics were not my problem to solve this ride, I let it come, let it be then let it go.
My motorcycle stamina was not really where it should have been for this trip. My general approach to life seems to be jumping into the boiling pot of water with my whole body. There's no point just dipping a toe in, you have to have the full intensity of an experience and then yoga breathe through it if it's challenging. So ya boy was yoga breathing and my throttle hand had turned into a throttle claw. At that moment Ricardo’s voice rang in my head.... Cruise Control. I switched it on with a satisfying click that only the makers of German vehicles seem to understand and locked myself into 140 kph. This cruise control didn't have radar or anything, but I could at least stretch my hand. 100,90,80 kms to go.
This is a go everywhere greeting card! Ride your motorcycle, have an adventure, record the adventure as words in a greeting card, send the greeting card, connect with other humans.
